The Cabo da Roca Lighthouse begins a new chapter in its history today, July 23rd, with the opening of the Interpretive Center, accompanied by a space for temporary exhibitions, a new cafeteria, and a shop.
Inaugurated in 1772, the Cabo da Roca Lighthouse is one of the oldest in Portugal and the second oldest still in operation on the Portuguese coast. The new Interpretive Center invites visitors to discover the history of this emblematic lighthouse and the importance of lighthouses for maritime navigation.
The Essential Visit, with free access, provides entry to the Interpretive Center and the outdoor courtyard, from where you can appreciate the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean and the beauty of the Serra de Sintra, as well as enjoy the new cafeteria.
For those seeking a more complete experience, the Panoramic Visit adds a climb to the panoramic balcony, accompanied by a member of Parques de Sintra. This privileged spot offers breathtaking views of the cliffs, the coast, and the ocean, at the westernmost point of continental Europe.
